Home School | Help for Home Educators during COVID-19 Pandemic
Updated: Feb 5, 2021
Have you suddenly been faced with the prospect of educating your children at home? Over 90% of UK students are now completing their school work from home since the government announced the closure of schools across the UK due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Only a small number of children are able to attend school if they are classed as vulnerable or if their parents are key workers and have no other childcare.
Home educating can be daunting task. Fortunately, help is at hand. Here are a few ways you can keep your children engaged and motivated in their studies. Don't forget Tech Tutors is here to help!
1. Timetable
We recommend creating a timetable which is similar to the school day. Remember to schedule regular breaks and encourage your children to stay active. Why not try a Zumba workout?
2. Get Creative
In the afternoons allow your kids to be creative. Why not use the items that you can find around your house to make rocket? Allow your kids to decorate it and take them into the garden to test how well it flies.

3. Get cooking
The great thing about learning from home is that you have access to a kitchen! Why not bake a batch of cookies or make a loaf of bread? Kids love getting involved in the process! This is a great opportunity to teach your kids about measuring using scales. This type of activity gives you the perfect stimulus for writing! Ask your children to write a set of instructions to recreate their recipe. You could even get them to record their own cooking show.
